ASCENT v0.11 UPDATE - EM PUZZLES, LEVEL SELECT, SECRETS

HAPPY NEW YEAR

lets cut to the chase. ascent 0.11 has the following changes:

  • levels:
    • 5 new levels!
    • tweaked/updated several more!
    • removed one that kinda sucked!
  • progression:
    • reorganised levels and split them into 10 sectors with 10 levels each
    • level select!!! thanks to a puzzlescript fork by Dario (included in puzzlescipt Plus
  • story:
    • more messages
    • added secrets
  • bug fixes, workflow optimization, blah blah blah

future:

probably only one or two more updates until ascent is deemed complete for the time being. i plan to make 100 levels- there are currently 53, so i unless some get cut i only need 3 more! no new game mechanics are being developed. i'm going to focus on visual stuff, perfecting the puzzles, and promotional art. expect version 1.0 to be released by the end of January!

future-er:

i have a handful of ideas for puzzle mechanics for a sequel or expansion to ascent. i probably won't realise any of these plans this year. i want to start a project in Godot and thats going to use up aaaaalll of my development time/energy. feel free to shout at me on discord about it though- if someone who's experienced at puzzle design wanted to collaborate with me on ascent 2.0, i would definitely be open to exploring that!
